Medicare

The Health Care Reform legislation signed by President Obama in March 2010 signaled major changes in Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans. Major changes in the Part D Prescription Drug benefit, the formation of State Insurance Exchanges in 2014 and many other factors is causing all employees with retiree medical programs to rethink their strategies. The emergence of "market places" for Medicare options (such as www.extendhealth.com) have created new opportunities for retirees to comparison shop for medical and pharmacy coverage and many employers have moved to this "defined contribution" coverage model.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid have provided a tool to help Medicare beneficiaries find a prescription drug plan Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Finder.
