John has over 20 years of experience in the employee benefits industry. He joined C.M. Smith Agency in 1999 after several years in New York City, NY with Towers Perrin and Mercer/Foster Higgins. John started his career with Aetna as a Pathways Associate in Aetna's Employee Benefits Division where he gained experience in both group pensions and group health and welfare benefits.
John has extensive experience in the design, pricing and financial evaluation of employee benefit plans. John serves on several committees of the Benefits Advisor Network, is a member of Connecticut Benefit Brokers and serves on the Board of Directors of VNA Healthcare.
John received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, where he was an Alden Scholar and co-captain of Allegheny's nationally-ranked football team.
