C.M. Smith Goes Green

Earth-DayA few clouds didn’t stop the students at Hartford Public High School’s Academy of Engineering and Green Technology from shining bright during their recent Earth Day Clean Up.

“It’s inspiring to see how hard these kids work to make their school a better place,” said C.M. Smith’s Jane Breen, who volunteered to clean out flower beds for the second year in a row. “It’s a really rewarding way to spend a Saturday morning.”

Sponsored by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association, KNOX, Great American Cleanup, and the City of Hartford, the Earth Day Clean Up is one of many local programs C.M. Smith’s Wellness & Employee Engagement Committee encourages staff to support.

“We moved our offices from Glastonbury to Hartford only a few years ago, so we’re always looking for ways to give back to our new community,” said Brigid Gunn, C.M. Smith’s Director of HR and Operations. “Earth Day is a great opportunity to engage our employees and set a good example for the students by demonstrating how businesses can give back.”
